Air Travel
The Piedmont Triad International Airport (GSO) in Greensboro, NC is the closest airport. It is serviced by Delta, United, and American. Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) in Raleigh, NC is about 90 minutes away and serviced by most major airlines.
Recommended Hotels
There are many hotels in the Greensboro area. We recommend the following as a starting point. All hotels are approximately 20 minutes from the venue.
Ground Transportation
Uber/Lyft are available in Greensboro, though most travelers will likely want to rent a car. Parking is complimentary at all hotels where we have secured a group rate, and tends not to be a challenge in the local area.

Very casual
Good for a quick bite. Often a great way to get some authentic NC grub…less often good for vegetarians.

Stamey’s Barbecue - Order authentic NC-style barbecue at the counter for take out or dine-in or take it to go. We strongly recommend some brunswick stew and hush puppies in addition to your pulled pork.

Biscuitville - A fast food chain serving classic Southern breakfasts. Can’t go wrong with a bacon, egg and cheese biscuit or a fried chicken biscuit (add pimento cheese to go all out). Open from early morning until 2pm.

Bojangles - Regional fast food chain with delicious cajun-style fried chicken and sides, including very crispy, buttery biscuits.

CookOut - Where else can you get a hot dog as a side for your burger? Grilled items are all delicious. The milkshakes and malts are truly outstanding once they soften enough to be manageable. Drive through only. Open late.

First Carolina Deli or Lox, Stock and Bagel - Not always actually quick unless you want to call in a take out order, but these delis are certainly the best in town.

YumYum Better Ice Cream and Hot Dogs - Pretty much what it sounds like…a hot dog and ice cream counter. They don’t do much, but they’ve been doing it well for over 100 years. There’s a good bar next door.

International Civil Rights Center & Museum - An archival center, collecting museum and teaching facility devoted to the international struggle for civil and human rights. Located in the building where the 1960 sit-ins occurred in F. W. Woolworth.

Guilford Courthouse National Military Park - Park with a visitor’s center and trails with signage to explore preserved battlefields from the Battle of Guilford Courthouse, fought on March 15, 1781.

BurMil Park - Located very close to the home Nancy and Rick purchased in May 2023, this was one of their favorite parks and a frequent running/cycling destination for Rick over many years.

Blandwood Mansion Museum and Gardens - Constructed in the 1790s, it is the oldest standing brick residence in the city and now operates as a museum.

Greensboro is located in the Piedmont Triad area of North Carolina and is the third-largest city in the state with a population of approximately 300,000 residents.

Named after Major General Nathaniel Greene, who led American troops in the Battle at Guilford Courthouse against British forces under the command of Lieutenant General Charles Cornwallis in the American Revolutionary War.

In 1960, four freshmen from the NC Agricultural and Technical (A&T) College in Greensboro walked into the F. W. Woolworth store and quietly sat down at the lunch counter, starting a sit-in movement that had over 300 non-violent protesters by the fifth day and catalyzed wider sit-in movements across the country. The International Civil Rights Center & Museum is located in the building where the sit-ins took place.
